Dear Partners,

We would like to inform you that new versions of the Registry's services / applications are available in the testing environment (UAT) and they implement the new Regulation on Management and Assignment of .gr and .ελ Domain Names (Decision 1110/6/29-04-2024 of EETT).

The technical changes brought about by the implementation of the new Regulation, mainly the new procedure for generating and making available authorization codes, are described in version 4.3 of the EPP protocol implementation guide which is available on the Registry's web testing environment (https://uat-regweb.ics.forth.gr/hostmaster) at the link Documentation -> Registry System -> EPP.

At the same time, a new WHOIS API (Application Programming Interface) implemented on top of the HTTPS protocol and the REST (Representational State Transfer) architectural style is available in the Registry's test system, which replaces the current WHOIS service provided to registrars.

For registrars to access the new WHOIS API, it is necessary to create a user account with appropriate access rights. This user will only have access to the new WHOIS API, while changing the password will be done from the login form of the HOSTMASTER application.

To create a user account with privileges to the new WHOIS API, please send a request to the registrar support department (gr-tech@ics.forth.gr), which will include the details of the new user (name, email, phone).

More information can be found in the WHOIS RESTful API v1.0 documentation in the Registry web test environment, under the link Documentation -> Registry System -> WHOIS, provided that you have a user account with access rights to the WHOIS API.

Those Registrars with EPP and WHOIS client applications must test their systems in the Registry's test environment.

The new regulation will enter into force in three (3) months from its publication in the Government Gazette (23-05-2024), except for article 11 which is already in force.

The exact date of transition to the production environment will be announced by EETT in an upcoming communication.
